Yes, a gorilla trekking permit is mandatory and is included in the tour price. We handle the permit booking and confirmation for you in advance.
The trek can range from moderate to strenuous depending on where the gorilla family is located. You’ll need to be reasonably fit and comfortable with hiking on uneven terrain.
We recommend:
-Long-sleeved shirts and long trousers
-Waterproof hiking boots
-Gardening gloves
-Rain jacket
-Insect repellent
-A small backpack with water and snacks.
While sightings are extremely likely (over 95%), gorillas are wild animals and sightings cannot be 100% guaranteed. However, your guide and trackers work hard to locate them daily.
Yes, but no flash photography is allowed. You’ll be given up to one hour to observe and take pictures once the gorillas are found.
Gorilla trekking is restricted to individuals aged 15 years and above as per Uganda Wildlife Authority regulations.
The best months are June to September and December to February, when forest trails are drier and trekking is easier.
